Cassandra Ashwood

Cassandra Ashwood is the Inventory Coordinator and Education Specialist at Luther Strings. Originally from Austin, Texas, she began playing the viola in fourth grade and quickly found a love for making music through her school orchestras.
While Cassandra is grateful for the opportunities music has given her, she believes the most meaningful part of being a musician isn’t the performances or accolades but the connections that music creates. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to see how music comes to life through the musicians who bring their own experiences, emotions, and perspectives to the music. For her, making music is less about reproducing what is written on the page and more about sharing stories, processing life’s joys and hardships, and creating moments of genuine connection with others.
That philosophy continues to shape her work at Luther Strings. Whether she’s helping educators find the right classroom resources, supporting students and families, or managing inventory behind the scenes, Cassandra enjoys being part of the musical journeys of players at every stage. She is passionate about making string education more accessible and helping others experience the same sense of community and connection that first inspired her as a young violist.
Outside of work, Cassandra enjoys creative writing, camping under the stars, and reading, pursuits that reflect her love of storytelling, curiosity, and spending time in nature.
