Joel Pautz is the Master Luthier at Luthier Strings. His journey with violin family instruments began as a Suzuki Violin student at the age of five, continuing through his adolescence to become a certified Suzuki Violin instructor and pursuing an undergrad degree in Music Education, before ultimately dedicating his career to lutherie after being accepted into the Violinmaking and Restoration program at NBSS. Since that time, he was privileged to be accepted into a bowmaking and restoration apprenticeship, in addition to receiving advanced training as a maker and restorer from premier practioners and instructors in the USofA. In turn, his previous roles filling leadership positions in the Greater Boston and Chicago area workshops has allowed him to diversify his approach to servicing instruments and bows, as well as allowed him the opportunity to share his training with his closest collegues. He looks forward to further assisting and collaborating with all musicians at all stages of their journey, from the aspirational to the professionals, along with the rest of the team here at Luther Strings.
