Gregg T. Alf has built instruments for some of the most distinguished artists of our time, including violinists Ruggiero Ricci, Elmar Oliveira, and Zvi Zeitlin, and violists Don McInnis and Hermann Menninghaus, among others.
In 2013, the Curtin & Alf violin “ex-Ricci” sold at auction for $132,000, the world-record price for living violinmakers.
In addition to his work at the bench, Gregg has curated landmark exhibitions including the 2016 Messiah Stradivari Exhibition (Cremona) and the Tokyo Stradivarius Festival (2018), and serves regularly as a judge and guest lecturer within the international violinmaking community.
