Julia Johnson is currently pursuing her Master of Music and Suzuki teaching Certificate at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. Julia also received a Bachelor of Music in Cello performance and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Lawrence University of Appleton, WI.

Julia's primary teachers have included Matthew Zalkind, Horacio Contreras, and Janet Anthony. During her undergraduate studies, Julia won two grants to complete internships at the Merit School of Music in Chicago where she gained experience teaching and held administrative positions. Additionally, Julia had the opportunity to study in Vienna, Austria during her senior year where she was able to continue studying cello with Josef Luitz.

Julia has attended Green Mountain Chamber Music festival in Vermont and Interharmony Music Festival in Italy. She has also played in masterclasses for David Requiro. Matthew Zalkind, Tanya Carey, Eric Kutz, Susan Babini, Viano String Quartet, and Lawrence Dutton.

Currently, she teaches at El Sistema Colorado while maintaining her own private studio. Additionally she subs in Boulder Symphony and Arapahoe Philharmonic. She also currently works in the Office of the Vice Provost of Faculty affairs at the University of Denver.
