Justin Dubish
Justin Dubish is the Master Luthier at Luther Strings with over 18 years of experience, starting with a 4 year apprenticeship at Hans Weisshaar in Los Angeles. He’s a maker, restorer, and bow specialist with experience at every level of the violin shop. He also has a background in cello performance and has played for 30 years. As a restorer and bow specialist, he has been favored for his repairs/rehairs and tonal adjustments by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Tokyo String Quartet, Indianapolis Symphony, Seattle Symphony, international soloists, and countless teachers and students.
Over his career, he’s had the privilege to manage two workshops on his own. While in Indianapolis (Violin Shop of Old Carmel), he was solely responsible for maintaining a rental fleet, restoring antique instruments for sale, daily estimates and customer repairs, bow rehairs and repairs, and keeping the workshop well stocked and organized. In Seattle (David T. Stone Violins), he was able to focus more on customer instrument and bow restorations, new making, tonal adjustments, and daily estimates and consultations. Since 2020, he moved to Seattle and worked for David T. Stone Violins, Rafael Carrabba Violins, and RL Ray Violin shop. He has also made a cello bow and three more violins.
