Yuka 'Ginny' Takeuchi is the Manager of Luther Strings. She encountered Luther Strings when it first opened in 2018, when she visited for a last-minute emergency bow rehair.
You can typically find Yuka perched in the front desk of the Luther Strings Entry Room. She is most knowledgable about violins and violas, takes care of many back-end matters of the business, greets customers, does quick repairs, makes sales, updates the website, and keeps track of most other things going on in the shop.
Yuka 'Ginny' Takeuchi started playing violin at the age of 4, and spent 20 years studying under various Julliard-trained musicians such as Kimbo Ishii Eto, Linda Wang, and Gudny Gudmundsdottir.
Born into a classically trained family, Yuka started off on piano at the age of 2, but gradually gravitated towards violin over the next 4 years. By the age of 5, she was performing duets on stage with both her pianist mother, as well as her guitarist father.
As an international performer of classical music, Yuka has appeared on stages across Japan, Iceland, Israel, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, China, and the United States.
Her skills as an extended technique improviser have also been honed, as she frequently performed around the streets of Maryland, USA and Zürich, Switzerland as a side-gig during her youth.
Most recently, Yuka served as a Chamber Music Graduate Teaching Assistant and Resident Graduate String Quartet Member for 2 years at the Arizona State University School of Music, and received her Masters in Music Degree through the Herberger Institute of Design and Arts. She was also appointed as temporary Principal Violist at the Denver Philharmonic, and completed a solo violin recital tour in Japan, which included the prefectures of Tokyo, Aichi, Gifu, Hyogo, Kochi, Osaka and Nara.
